Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 October 2026.
1. Agreement to these terms
The Finance Calendar API is operated by Search Ventures Pty Ltd (ACN 639 906 353) as trustee for the Ahlgren Trust (“we”, “us”). These terms apply to your use of financecalendarapi.com, including the dashboard, and the API at api.financecalendarapi.com, including its calendar feeds (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account, starting a trial, subscribing or using the API, you agree to these terms. If you use the Service for a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that business, and “you” includes it. You must be at least 18.
These terms include our Privacy Policy, the Data Processing Addendum and the Fair Use Policy. Enterprise subscriptions also include the Service Level Agreement.
2. What the Service provides
The Service answers questions about business days, settlement dates, market holidays and early closes for the calendars it covers: stock exchanges, settlement systems, bond markets, and countries and regions. It provides this through a REST API, calendar feeds (JSON, CSV and iCalendar) and browser tools on the website.
The calendar data is compiled from the open-source holidays library and from official sources such as exchange notices, central bank calendars and government gazettes. We are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any exchange, central bank, settlement system or government.
3. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where the law lets us limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited, at our choice, to supplying the Service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
4. Accounts and API keys
You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email address. Keep that email account secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
API keys are shown once, when you create them, and are stored by us only as a one-way hash. Keep them secret. Do not publish a key, for example in public code or in a web page anyone can load. A key in a calendar feed address or a spreadsheet formula can be read by anyone with access to that calendar or file, so use a separate key for those and revoke it if it is shared too widely. You are responsible for all use of the Service with your keys or your dashboard sign-in. If you think a key has been exposed, revoke it from the dashboard straight away.
One account per customer. Do not open extra accounts to get another trial or to get around a plan’s limits.
5. Plans, trials, billing and refunds
Prices and tax. Plans are billed monthly or annually in advance, in US dollars, through Stripe. Prices on the pricing page exclude tax. Customers in Australia are charged GST at 10% on top, shown on a tax invoice. For customers outside Australia we add no tax; you are responsible for any tax that applies to you where you are, for example under a reverse-charge rule.
Free trial. Each account can have one free trial of 14 days, which needs a payment card. Unless you cancel before it ends, the trial converts automatically into a paid subscription at the price shown when you started it. Changing plan during the trial keeps the trial’s end date.
Changing plan. You can change plan or billing period at any time in Manage billing on your dashboard. A change part-way through a period is prorated.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in Manage billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and the Service keeps working until then.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, the Service keeps working while the payment is retried over the following days. If it still cannot be collected, the subscription ends and your API keys stop working until you subscribe again.
Limits, not overage charges. Each plan sets a monthly number of requests, a number of calendars per request and a rate per minute. Requests beyond these are refused, not billed. We email you when you reach 80% and 100% of the monthly requests.
Refunds. We do not refund part periods, unused requests or change of mind. Refunds are available where the Australian Consumer Law requires them, or where the Service is materially unavailable for a sustained period through our fault.
Price changes. We may change our prices. A new price applies to your subscription from your next billing period after we have told you by email, and at least 30 days after that email.
6. Acceptable use
Use the Service in your own products, systems and work, and in work you do for your clients. Do not:
- resell, republish or redistribute the calendar data in bulk, or use it to build or improve a dataset or service that competes with ours
- share API keys outside your organisation, or use several keys or accounts to get around your plan’s limits
- scrape the website or the browser tools in place of using the API
- test the Service’s security without our written permission, interfere with its operation, or try to reach parts of it you are not meant to
- use the Service in breach of any law
The Fair Use Policy explains how these rules apply to plans without a monthly request quota.
7. Data, attribution and your content
Sources. The calendar data builds on the open-source holidays library, used under its MIT licence, and on official sources cited for each verified calendar year. Each date in the Service says how it was established.
Our licence to you. While your subscription or trial is active, you may use the Service and its output for the purposes in section 6, including keeping a cached copy of the data in your own systems.
Your content. Your account details, key labels and settings remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them to provide the Service.
8. Data accuracy and availability
This is the part of these terms that matters most, so we say it plainly.
Holidays change. Governments, exchanges and central banks add, move and cancel holidays and early closes, sometimes at short notice. We check the official sources we cite every day and review each change before we publish it, but there is always a delay between an announcement and our data.
Not every date is verified. A date marked “verified” belongs to a calendar year we have checked against the official source cited for it. A date marked “library” comes from the holidays library and has not yet been checked by us. Dates for future years can be provisional.
Confirm before you rely on a date. For these reasons, no date from the Service should be the only basis for a payment, settlement or trading decision. Before relying on a date for a transaction, confirm it against the official source cited for it, which the Service links to.
Availability. We work to keep the Service available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may pause it for maintenance. The only availability commitment we make is the Service Level Agreement for Enterprise subscriptions.
9. Intellectual property
We own the Service, including the website, dashboard, API, documentation, and the way the data is compiled, verified and presented. These terms do not transfer any of it to you. The holidays library remains subject to its own licence, and official sources to their publishers’ terms.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Data only, not advice. The Service provides data. It is not financial, legal or tax advice, and we do not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence.
As is. Subject to section 3, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Limits. To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, including loss from a payment, settlement or trading decision made using the Service or from a date that turns out to be wrong
- our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim
11. Indemnity
You indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from your breach of these terms, or from your use of the Service or its data in breach of the law or of anyone’s rights.
12. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time, as set out in section 5.
We may suspend or close your account, with notice where practical, if you breach these terms, do not pay, misuse the API, or use the Service in a way that could harm us or other customers. We may also stop offering the Service with at least 30 days’ notice, and refund any period paid for but not provided.
When an account is closed, you can ask us to delete the information stored under it, as described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. If a dispute arises, we will each first try in good faith to resolve it by negotiation and then by mediation, before starting court proceedings, except where urgent relief is needed. Proceedings will be brought in the courts of Queensland, Australia.
14. Force majeure
We are not responsible for a failure or delay caused by events outside our reasonable control, including outages at our hosting or payment providers, changes made by the publishers of official sources, or failures of the internet.
15. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page, and if a change materially affects your rights we will tell account holders by email at least 30 days before it applies. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
16. General
If a part of these terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. These terms and the documents named in section 1 are the whole agreement between us about the Service. You may not transfer your account or these terms without our consent.
