Pay on time in every country, without a holiday list per country
Payroll runs on a fixed day, and when that day is a public or bank holiday the money has to move earlier. Across several countries that means several holiday lists, each with its own regional days and observed-day rules, kept up to date by hand.
How it works
Every country and region takes the same request. Ask for the business day before a pay date and the API steps back over weekends and public or bank holidays for that place, including observed-day rules.
Country calendars come from the open-source holidays library, and each date says so. When a government adds or moves a holiday, the changes feed lists the date in the next release.

Questions
Where do country holidays come from?
From the open-source holidays library, which encodes the rules of every country and many regions. Each date says whether it has been checked against an official source (verified) or not yet (library).
Are regional holidays covered?
Yes, for the regions the library models, such as US states and German Länder. Each region is its own calendar.
Can I check several countries at once?
Yes. Pass up to 10 calendars to see whether a date is a business day in each of them.
